Meet
Dr. Tekita C. Blackwell
A Believer. Mother. Leader. Academic Advocate. Minister. Education Consultant. Spiritual Fitness Coach. Conference Speaker. Entrepreneur. Success Bully™.
Dr. Tekita C. Blackwell is a passionate educator and minister,
yielded to the call on her life to make a positive impact in the classroom, church, and community. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology – Secondary Education from Norfolk State University, a Master of Divinity in Theology from Virginia Union University, an Education Specialist degree in
Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.
Dr. Blackwell has worked in the field of education for the past 28 years as a
science teacher, instructional coach, university professor, teacher mentor, and consultant. She has used her work in the profession to create C.L.A.S.S Culture™️, an academic support conglomerate that specializes in Creating Learning Atmospheres for Successful Students. Through her entrepreneurial endeavors,
Dr. Blackwell supports students, parents, educators, and the overall learning community by promoting STEM education, teacher effectiveness, culturally relevant practices, and science literacy. Dr. Blackwell also serves as a board member for Communities in Schools® of Hampton Roads and a member of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc., wherein she supports efforts to provide learning resources, academic services, and STEM education to people of color, urban schools, women, and other underserved populations of our community.
In 1992, Dr. Blackwell accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior.
Since that time, she has been committed to cultivate her faith and yield to the Sovereignty of God over her life. For nearly 30 years, she has served God and His people in various capacities, to include worship leader, mime ministry leader, intercessory prayer ministry, Christian education, youth ministry, and member of the presbytery. Chosen to minister discipline and wholeness to the people of God, Dr. Blackwell birthed iYield™, a ministry that empowers
believers to incorporate divine connections, convictions, callings, and
consecration into their daily lives. Additionally, Dr. Blackwell serves as the Youth and Young Adult Minister at New Hope Baptist Church in Chesapeake, VA, under the leadership of her pastor,
Dr. Sammie L. Logan III.
Among her many gifts, skills, and talents, Dr. Blackwell’s most
rewarding position is being the mother of her two dynamic sons,
Mark Trueheart and Alton Shalom.
In those precious moments when she can step away from her many roles,
Dr. Blackwell finds moments of selah when sky gazing, jumping double dutch, laughing, introverting, listening to various genres of music, and spending time with family and friends.
If ever a quote could describe Dr. Blackwell, St. Francis of Assisi said it best:
Preach the gospel at all times; when necessary, use words.
